New Ground Theatre Dance “The Terrain Project”
Not Your Tiny Dancer
This Summer I collaborated with my dear friend Coleen Lorenz for NGTD’s “The Terrain Project.” And yes, I danced. Who else would Coleen get to play the abusive, tango-ing husband? This guy. A lot of lifting, fancy footwork, and lighting -- a typical day in the life.
I am really proud of this project. It was the culmination of months of planning, rehearsals, and begging people to be on time.
Not only did I dance and design, but I also did some more writing for this multi-media project. In this “emergency room” scene fraught with urgency, I also had the task of procuring many props for the scene that I felt compelled to write, such as a gurney (the same I laid on in Snow Falling on Cedars), IV bags, heart monitor leads, whatever. And the only place that I was able to find them was a website that I was directed to (by a student) called kinky medical dot perv or what have you. I am not one to judge, but I do not need to know why you need saline for your ....
